A carefree walk through the clouds, savoring the light drizzle, unmindful of the soaking & dirty attire, you get a feeling of abundance being so close to nature at its best.
All of us are fascinated by the first drops of rain every monsoon as you inhale the fragrance emanating from the parched soil post-summer. You welcome the rains with open arms getting drenched a few times, and then settle down for the wet season. Most of the times we prefer to stay indoors enjoying hot beverages & snacks. Moving outdoors may not be a preferred option compared to a cozy interior for many of us.
However, once in a while it’s good to leave the confines of our comforts and venture outdoors to see from close quarters the magic called monsoon. Going beyond the urban landscape, venturing into the wilderness may sound a little unsettling and crazy. But it’s a wonderful experience. Give it a try, you will love it.
Much depends on where you go. The location you choose and the time you are willing to give to this excursion. As tourists, most of us visit to see the famous & popular perennial waterfalls, but it’s a different feeling getting close to seasonal waterfalls in their glory during monsoon.
You can choose to trek up the muddy path, through the thick vegetation, at times slipping but climbing to reach a position at the top, reaching there you are left breathless. The efforts you find were worth it when you reach the top to look around. The view is beautiful.
There is something wonderful to see the rainwater making its way through several rivulets further joining at the edge of the cliff and then plunging deep into the valley, a spectacular visual that you can explore and enjoy only during monsoon.
Some other place you could be climbing gradually along the river in the wilderness, making your way up carefully. The twists and turns you follow up the valley keep you guessing. Then you hear the sound echoing through the valley. Are we approaching a waterfall? You hasten your steps, eager to see the spectacle. You want to be the first to reach there. Suddenly the view in front opens up and you can see the white water gushing from a height and crashing into the river bed below. You stop for a moment allowing the spectacle to sink in. Either you go numb or you go bonkers, but you enjoy every bit of that moment.
