Home to some of the highest peaks, large Glaciers, mighty rivers, glacial lakes, unique flora & fauna the Indian Himalayas have been a source of inspiration for millions of Indians who have ventured & are keen to do so in these wonderful and unique mountain ranges.
The states of West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir all offer to us the opportunities to be in the Himalayas. The beauty of these mountains change from region to region and one is able to see the transformation as one visits these regions, also as one goes higher and deeper into these mountains.
The rugged snow covered mountains, steeply slope into the glacier beds. The sharp ridges and the green covered ranges forming the deep ravines also have the gentle meadows. The undulating lower ranges are home to many tribes who nestle there with their sheep and other live stock. One has to be really there to explore & experience the beauty of these mountains.
One of the challenges is to travel and reach these mountains deep enough to get the adventure feeling and also the experience to know the mountains well. The evolution of these mountains over millions of years make interesting reading. People visit these mountains for different reasons. Some visit as tourists, others as naturalists & adventurers. These mountains have attracted spiritualists since many centuries and are a major center for people who seek spiritualism today.
At Outward Bound we have been engaging our program participants at some of the finest venues in the states of Uttaranchal, Himachal Pradesh & Sikkim over the years. The scope for to do the activities in these mountains range from a simple low endurance trek to a highly demanding high altitude trek to a backpacking & climbing expedition to the summit of some of the trekking peaks. Some stretches of the rivers are good for white water rafting.
It is our endeavor to offer the backpacking programs all round the year at different venues depending on the season and the difficulties of operations keeping in mind the safety of the participants and the staff.
